I did not see this coming.

I just wanted to say that Mass Effect completely, utterly rules, and for this reason I may be sort of scarce the next few days.

I have not posted in some time, and my last missive to you, my good and dear friends, was redolent of resignation and despair; indeed, that musty odor may have been detectable on your side of the inter-network, a 21st century Smell-o-Vision.

For this, I apologize. I am well.

It came to pass that the former issue resolved itself nicely, and in truth my life is in most respects radical. I don't think that's too strong a word.

As of September 30, I am twenty-nine years old.

( And my birthday weekend was low-key, yet awesome. )

Between Bioshock, Settlers of Catan, and Mass Effect, I am going to have a hard time not buying an Xbox 360 in the next few months.

Stupid brilliant games. Stupid Microsoft. Stupid everything.

Last night, in a daring surprise raid on a Vaygr manufacturing outpost, 13 of 14 elite bomber squadrons in the "Fightin' 103rd" gave their lives to ensure the destruction of enemy forces. They will be posthumously awarded our race's greatest honor, the Order of the Abiding Star, and their names will be engraved on the great motherships's hull for posterity. Our people will be forever in their debt.

Fleet Command also wishes to acknowledge the performance of the 45th Marine Platoon in their capture of a Vaygr destroyer in that same engagement; Those who doubted the efficacy of "Hiigara's Drunken Sons" have received their comeuppance.

In conclusion, Fleet Command resents the implication that it has been playing too much Homeworld 2.

(As a postscript, Fleet Command points out that all squadrons of the 103rd strike wing are now recruiting.)
